Subject: [mercury-users] Sluggish XML parsing
From: Michael Day (mikeday@corplink.com.au)
Date: Sun Dec 24 2000 - 14:46:43 EST
Following up on the recent DOM discussion...
why is the XML parser so slow? On an unloaded pentium 2 it takes several
seconds to parse even small XML files, which get parsed in a flash by
other XML parsers. Is it the (excessive?) use of higher order code?
This is after compiling with -O6 and any other optimisation options that
seemed interesting in asm_fast.gc grade. It takes *ages* to compile, too.
I haven't tried hlc, would this help?
Michael
